Transmission = Richmond 4+1 (Street 5 Speed) 7031710-A (3.73 first gear ratio) attached to Mopar 15330 Lakewood bell housing
The 4+1 Street gives you a choice of first gear ratios (3.27, 4.06, or 4.41), plus 2.13 second, 1.57 third, 1.23 fourth, and 1.1 fifth gear ratios. That means you can run an "economy" rear-end gear to save gas and have the performance of a lower (numerically higher) gear ratio. In fact, Richmond recommends using a rear-end gear between 2.73 and 3.36. The 4+1 Street is drilled for use with most popular four-speed bellhousing's. It's the same length as most four speeds, too, making installation easier.
Note: To specify first gear ratio, please use one of the following letters after the part number:
- A - 3.27
- B - 4.06
- C - 4.41
About how those ratios translate to MPH with 2.73 gears and the 3.27 1st gear:
Gear | Speed (MPH) | Tire Diameter | Ratio | RPM |
1st | 50 | 25.7" | 3.27 | 5836 |
2nd | 75 | 25.7" | 2.13 | 5702 |
3rd | 105 | 25.7" | 1.57 | 5884 |
4th | 130 | 25.7" | 1.23 | 5707 |
5th | 150 | 25.7" | 1.1 | 5889 |
The following 2 images link to larger examples. The transmission demo is a really next example of Director 8.5 and the new 3D features. For you techno geeks out, this entire animation sequence is only 300k. You can actually shift the gears and see how it works. Also by clicking in the transmission space, you can spin the entire animation. You can also use your shift + click and ctrl + click to zoom and pan - it's really functional.
